A Brief Introduction on Shenzhen
Shenzhen Port lies on the South of the Pearl River Delta, Guangdong Province, and on the east bank of Lingding Sea in Pearl River Estuary, in the vicinity of Hong Kong. The City’s 260 KM coast line is divided by Jiulong Peninsula into two parts of east and west. The West Port Area is located on the east bank of Lingding Sea in Pearl River Estuary, with wide port area and deep water, and excellent natural protection; linking to various cities and counties in Pearl River Delta by way of Pearl River water system, approaching to domestic coastal and various ports via Hong Kong water channel. The East Port Area is located within Dapeng Gulf, with a depth of 12-14 meters, with wide space and smooth surface, making up an excellent natural port in South China Area.
The distance from the West Port area to the Pearl River Estuary is 32nautical miles, and 20 nautical miles to Hong Kong and Macau, 40 nautical miles to Huangpu(Guangzhou); 30 KM to central Shenzhen by land; The distance from the East Port Area to Hong Kong is 53 nautical miles, and 75 nautical miles to Macau, 121 nautical miles to Huangpu(Guangzhou), 77 nautical miles to the West Port Area; and 22 KM to central Shenzhen by land. |

Shenzhen is the traffic hub in the southern part of our Country, as for railroad, there are Beijing-Jiulong Line and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Line linking the Country’s railroad system via Beijing-Guangzhou Line; The Country’s first para-highspeed railroad from Guangzhou to Shazhen was accomplished in 1994. As for highways, there are expressway from Shenzhen leading to Guangzhou, Huizhou, Shantou; and to the south of Shenzhen, there are direct ports to Hong Kong such as Wenjindu, Luohu, Shatoujiao and Huang-ganglu; the first-class auto-way from Yantian to Huizhou was accomplished in 1993. The distance from Shenzhen International Air Port to the West Port Area is only 22 km, very convenient for combined transportation.
